Our Inaugural DigiEvent for 2026

RSVP is thrilled to welcome Beth Gaskell (British Library) as the first speaker of our 2026 Digital Events series on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 8 a.m. PST / 10 a.m. EST / 4 p.m. UK / 5 p.m. CET.

In a talk entitled, “Yesterday’s News: Behind the Scenes at the British National Newspaper Collection,” Beth will share about her work managing the British National Newspaper Collection at the British Library. She will outline the history of newspaper collecting at the British Library and discuss the challenges of current collection management, touching on topics such as acquisition, storage, conservation and digitisation.

About Our Speaker

Beth Gaskell is Lead Curator, News and Moving Image at the British Library. Her research interests include the professional press, military media networks, and newspaper and periodical collecting and preservation. Her most recent publication, an article entitled “Esprit de Corps: Regimental Journals and Belonging,” was published in the Journal of European Periodicals Studies last year.
