We have several exciting Digital Events on the horizon for the latter half of 2026! We also know calendars and diaries fill up quickly, especially when approaching the holiday season. Below you will find the topics, dates, and speakers of our upcoming digital events.

All events take place on a Friday (dates below), and at our normal time:

8 a.m. PST / 11 a.m. EST / 4 p.m. BST / 5 p.m. CET*

RSVP’s Digital Events are free to attend and open to all, even to those who are not (yet) members of the Society (though we hope you will consider becoming a member!). That said, you will need to register for each individual event so you receive the Zoom link. Please also note that many of our events are recorded and posted to our YouTube channel. By registering, you agree to be included in our recordings.

During this roundtable event, contributors to The Edinburgh Companion to the Regional Magazine (forthcoming 2028) will offer a preview of the volume and discuss how periodicals of the periphery provoke vital questions about cultural and political power.

In this talk, Sally Shuttleworth will explore the diverse ways in which periodicals contributed to the literary and medical cultures of life within the ‘English colonies’ of European health resorts.

In this talk, Johannes Makar will examine how editors of influential Arabic magazines such as al-Muqtaṭaf (“The Selection”) and al-Laṭāʾif (“The Pleasantries“) curated and popularized the ever-expanding world of knowledge through the literary form of the miscellany during the mid-late nineteenth century.
