Curran Fellowship

RSVP is pleased to announce the competition for the sixth annual Curran Fellowship, a set of travel and research grants intended to aid scholars studying 19th-century British magazines and newspapers in making use of primary print and archival sources. The Curran Fellowship is made possible through the generosity of the late Eileen Curran, Professor Emerita of English, Colby College, and inspired by her pioneering research on Victorian periodicals. Colby Prize Submissions

The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals is pleased to announce this year’s call for submissions for the Robert and Vineta Colby Scholarly Book Prize, awarded to the scholarly book that most advances the understanding of the nineteenth-century British newspaper or periodical press. Additional information about the prize is available here. To nominate a book or to raise an enquiry, please email the chair of the Prize Committee, Laurel Brake (l.brake@bbk.ac.uk), by December 31st, 2013. Gale Fellowship

RSVP is pleased to announce the fourth annual Gale Dissertation Research Fellowship, made possible by the generosity of publisher Gale, part of Cengage Learning, in support of dissertation research that makes substantial use of full-text digitized collections of 19th-century British magazines and newspapers. A prize of $1500 will be awarded, together with one year’s passworded subscription to selected digital collections from Gale, including 19th Century UK Periodicals and 19th Century British Library Newspapers.
