Victorian Networks & the Periodical Press
University of St Thomas, Minneapolis, Minnesota. 21-22 August 2009.
The 2009 RSVP conference explored the ways in which the periodical press relied on a variety of networks, including journalistic, business, communication, technology, transportation, imperialist, immigration, political, activist, scientific, philosophical, literary, artistic, and other social networks. The program included several panels and two plenary speakers as well as workshops devoted to digital resources and methods of teaching periodicals. Pre-conference activities include the William Holman Hunt and the Pre-Raphaelite Vision exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
There was also a memorable trip to see the renowned bluegrass musician (and friend of RSVP) Alan Munde at the Celtic Junction in St Paul.
